Monday Feb 12

  1. Speed write. Read “The Outsiders”. Silent reading of YA novel.
  2. Quiz #2.
  3. Conferences (small group check-in). You will have your folders 100% in order today.
  4. Poetry packets (new) and learn how to write the short story report and the poetry report (new).
  5. Homework #1 will be passed out. It is due tomorrow.

MAKE UP – AFTER SCHOOL

  1. View the film “All Is True” if you missed it.
  2. View the film “Romeo and Juliet” if you missed it.

Tuesday Feb 13 (NOTE: change in schedule…regular 4-class day)

  1. Speed write. Read “The Outsiders”. Silent reading of YA novel.
  2. Read essays and short stories. Prepare for the expository essay and document working through the wondering stage of the writing process.
  3. Do the preparing stage of the writing process for the expository essay. You will do this in 1:3 conferences with Mr. Kertes. You will write your focusing question for the expository essay.
  4. If you miss this conference, the make up day is Tuesday Feb 20 after school. This conference is required as part of the expository essay assignment and must be done in-class or on the make up afternoon. Be sure to schedule an appointment if you want to complete the make up on Feb 20.

Wednesday Feb 14

  1. Speed write. Read “The Outsiders”. Silent reading of YA novel.
  2. Read essays and short stories. Prepare for the expository essay and document working through the wondering stage of the writing process.
  3. Do the planning stage of the writing process for the expository essay. You will do this in 1:3 conferences with Mr. Kertes. You will write your outline for the expository essay.
  4. If you miss this conference, the make up day is Tuesday Feb 20 after school. This conference is required as part of the expository essay assignment and must be done in-class or on the make up afternoon. Be sure to schedule an appointment if you want to complete the make up on Feb 20.

NOTE: No school Thursday or Friday and no school Monday next week.
