Practice Meetings

  • Lightnings – Every Tuesday 3:10 to 4:30 PM in room 308
  • Counsels – Every Thursday 3:10 to 4:30 PM in room 308
  • Storms – Eery Friday 3:10 to 4:30 PM at PRMS (will move to CHSS soon)

More About Debate Team Squads

  • You may only be on one squad (you can switch squads, but not too often)
  • If you attend both tournament practice (Mondays or Tuesdays) and parliament/trial practice (Thursdays) you will choose the squad you most identify with

Thunders and Lightnings:

  • Focus on tournament debate
  • You may go on either Mondays (Thunders) or Tuesdays (Lightnings) – but not both days


  • Focus on model parliament and mock trial
  • The Counsels meet on Thursdays


  • Storms is the squad for PRMS debaters
  • They meet on Fridays

Areas of Focus

  • LEARN THINKING Tournament Debate is focused on preparing for high school debate tournaments in Canada
  • LEARN LEADERSHIP Model Parliament Debate is focused on how the Parliament in Canada conducts its business (including debates in the House), preparing for participation in high school model parliament
  • LEARN LAW Mock Trials focus on preparing debaters to participate in student mock trials (prepare for being a lawyer or working in the law)
