NB Exchange Trip 2025

During the trip, information will be texted (not emailed).
- Parents/Guardians: Please email a text with your name, your child’s name, and “NB trip” to 778-884-5343 if you want to receive text updates on plans during the trip
Most information will be communicated as a link to a daily post. We try to consolidate this as much as possible to limit the number of texts. This is how we will communicate to both students and parents/guardians throughout the trip.
The daily post goes out by 7 AM Pacific Time each day starting March 21.
The information on this page may change. If anything important changes, we will send a text with a link.
The next meeting for students is at lunch on Thursday March 13. Students should bring a sleeping bag and sleeping pad for YOU and YOUR TWIN (2 of each) to school (if not using these during Spring Break). We will store these at school until the NWBC portion of the trip.
At the March 13 meeting (lunch at school) we will Zoom with the NB students.

Reminders

Packing List – Trip to NB
- Bring government issued photo ID with your name and birthdate or let us know that you do not have this ID (in which case, bring school and ID and we will provide a school letter for you as well)
- Bring some spending money
- Bring enough money for about 5-7 meals (when travelling on the flight)
- Meals when in NB are provided by the host school
- Bring a small and inexpensive gift (under $20) for your host family (something from our region is best, homemade is perfect, not fancy, just say “thanks”)
- Plan for cold, wet, changing weather

- Bring some spending money
- Bring money for 5-6 meals (lunches and dinners) and any extra for breakfasts (if you want to eat out for some breakfasts, as light breakfasts will also be provided)

Food Details
- Food when flying is on your own (plan for 5-7 meals when in-transit)
- Most food when in BC is on your own (plan for 7 meals when in BC)
- Some food is provided for all students (NB and CHSS), such as group meal in Terrace and other days
- When hosting, food will be provided for all the students being hosted (both NB and CHSS)

Thursday March 13
- Student Meeting at CHSS (room 308) during lunch (11:40 to 12:10) — Zoom with NB students
Saturday March 22
- Meet at the Highliner (shuttle to airport) at 12 noon (please be on time)
  - Required: Bring ID (chaperones will check this at the shuttle station)
    - It is recommended that each student bring government issued photo ID with your legal name and birthdate (this is required for 18 and over)
    - It is required that each student under 18 have some form of ID (this can include a school ID, but if a student uses school ID they must also have a letter from the school on school letterhead that confirms that they are on a school trip – please let us know by March 12th if this is needed) (Air Canada requirements)
  - Pack one suitcase (to check-in) and one carry-on (plus small bag)
    - Reminder: It may be cold and wet in NB
    - Reminder: The flight is long – with an overnight flight
- Flight details (Air Canada)
  - Prince Rupert to Vancouver: Flight 8090 (3:40 PM to 5:18 PM) (layover in the terminal, may not leave the terminal area, may not pass security or exit the terminal/airport)
  - Vancouver to Montreal: Flight 314 (11:20 PM to 7:20 AM, next day)
Sunday March 23
- Flight details (Air Canada)
  - Flight arrives in Montreal at 7:20 AM
  - Montreal to St John (NB): Flight 8044 (1:10 PM to 3:38 PM)
- The NB school will meet us at the airport and travel back with us

  - Montreal to Vancouver: Flight 301 (7:30 AM to 9:55 AM)
  - Vancouver to Prince Rupert: Flight 8089 (1:15 PM to 3:02 PM)
  - Pick up at the Highliner (airport shuttle) around 4:00 PM
Monday March 31
- School for the morning (per 1 and per 2) until 11:33 AM
- Meet in the library at 11:33 AM for meeting to plan NWBC trip (hosting NB students)
- Leave by bus after school to meet the NB students at the airport shuttle, then bus to Terrace
- Group meal: 2 slices of pizza + 1 soda (Boston Pizza) for all students (both schools)
- Sleep at École Mountainview at 3505 Bailey Street (gym floor)
Tuesday April 1
- Leave early in the morning
- Light breakfast is provided for all students (both schools)
- Bus to Nisga’a sites
- Sack lunch is provided for all students (both schools)
- Bus to Smithers
- Afternoon snack is provided for all students (both schools)
- Stay at Sandman Hotel in Smithers (hotel information)
- Dinner on own
Wednesday April 2
- Shopping day in Smithers
- Light breakfast is provided for all students (both schools)
- Lunch on own
- Dinner on own
- Bus to Terrace
- View a movie in Terrace (as a group)
- Sleep at École Mountainview at 3505 Bailey Street (gym floor)
Thursday April 3
- Leave early in the morning
- Light breakfast is provided for all students (both schools)
- Moderate hike near Terrace
- Lunch on own
- Free time block during the day in Terrace
- Dinner on own
- Meet at the library
- Sleep at École Mountainview at 3505 Bailey Street (gym floor)
Friday April 4
- Leave early in the morning
- Light breakfast provided for all students (both schools)
- Short hike around Terrace
- Arrive back at CHSS at 11:33 AM
- School visit with host student
- Visit classes at CHSS with your twin
- After 3:01 PM – Free time
- 5:00 PM – Pick up dinner from CHSS MPR (5:00-5:30 PM) for everyone staying at host house
  - Cold cereal and milk for breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday will be provided
  - Sandwiches for lunches on Saturday will also be provided
- Free time in the evening
- Stay at host home
Saturday April 5
- Free time with twins until 5:00 PM
- Students who want to help volunteer to help PRMS event – OPTIONAL (3:00-5:00 PM, in the CHSS MPR)
- Dinner at CHSS MPR (Fried Bread Tacos, part of PRMS event at CHSS) 5:00-6:00 PM
- Free time with twins the rest of the evening
Sunday April 6
- Meet at the highliner at 12 noon with your NB twin and please plan (for students) to stay until the shuttle leaves
- Sack lunches will be provided to the NB students when they arrive at the shuttle station (Highliner)
