Rivers Road Trip – Day 2

Overview

  • Date: Tuesday April 1
  • Starts in: Terrace
  • Ends in: Smithers

Meals

  • Breakfast: Bag breakfast, served on the bus while boarding, around 7:30 AM
  • Optional Coffee: McDonalds or Tim Hortons, in Terrace, around 7:45 AM (plan for 15-30 minutes)
  • Lunch: Bag lunch (there are no other food options in the area), served on the bus while boarding, around 1:30 PM
  • Dinner: On-your-own (there is nearby fast food and other options), in Smithers, from around 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (“on-your-own” means in a group with a certain number of other students, not “by yourself”)

Schedule

6:15 AM (or earlier if needed)Early risers (bathroom opens, only some lights are on, please be silent in the sleeping area of the gym)
6:30 AMGentle risers (lights are on at 100% in the sleeping area, please be silent, you can start packing, use washroom, etc.)
6:40 AMEveryone up (gentle wake up music is played, everyone is up, late risers must pack quickly, does not need to be silent)
7:00 AMThe gym is fully packed, stored for loading, everyone is almost ready (we load the bus at 7:15 AM)
7:10 AMGym is empty, ready for a group clean up check (everyone helps)
7:15 AMLoad the bus with gear (everyone helps)
7:25 AMStudents are on the bus (breakfast is passed out as you enter)
7:35 AM (or sooner)Bus departs once everyone is on the bus and everything is fully loaded
7:45 AM (or sooner)Optional coffee at McDonalds or Tim Hortons (get any road trip snacks if you want them, but note that healthy snacks and water will be provided during the drives)
8:15 AMBus departs (2-hours, one stop, then 1-hour more; total 3-hours driving time)

1:30 PMBus departs, bag lunch is on the bus (no other food options are in the area)

The total drive is about 5-hours.
There will be two stops at gas stations. These are for washrooms only (no shopping).
Snacks and water will be provided to students during the drive.
6:30 PMArrive at the hotel in Smithers

Once we are checked-in, you can get your stuff and put it in your room, then there is block of free time (for dinner own-your-own, etc.)
8:30 PMGroup meeting and check-in (rules reminder and other “business”)
8:40 PMWinding down time
10:00 PMQuiet time, followed by lights out (at this point you must be in your assigned room until no earlier than 6:00 AM the next day)
