Debate Team

Who:

  • There are a maximum of 16 debaters on the team
  • Attend the practice session on April 15 to confirm your space on the team

What:

  • The Debate Team is for students who are interested in:
    • Learning how to develop a strong argument
    • Improving their research skills and constructive thinking skills
    • Developing their speaking (on your feet) skills
    • Policy, government, change, and power for the benefit of their community
  • It is ideal for students who want to:
    • Learn about law as a career
    • Take English and other writing-intensive courses
    • Run for elected office and be a leader for their community
    • Work in a career in communications, business, or government

Where:

  • We meet in room 308

When:

  • The season:
    • Spring (regular season): April 8 to June 16
    • Fall (to prepare for the Vancouver trip): September 9 to October 5
  • Weekly practices:
    • Every Tuesday after school
    • Stars April 8
