Debate Team Tournament Info and Forms

Jan. 9-12, 2026 Debate Tournament in Prince George

Trip Details

  • Depart: 7 AM on Friday January 9, 2026
  • Nights at the hotel in Prince George: Jan. 9, Jan. 10, Jan. 11 (check out Jan. 12)
  • Return: 10 PM on Friday January 12, 2026
  • You must register with a partner (2 students register together). Talk to Mr. Kertes if you need help finding a partner.
  • The travel fee is $50 (non-refundable).

How to attend…

  1. Each debater must attend (or have permission to be excused) the Dec. 10 Thunder and Lightning Tournament on Dec. 10, 2025 (8:45 AM to 3:01 PM).
    • Debaters must complete and turn in their academic card each week on Dec. 1 and Dec. 8 to be able to attend the Dec. 10th event. This is mandatory.
    • Each debater must complete and turn in the signed permission form (#1) by Dec. 5, 2025. This is mandatory. The link for the form is above.
  2. Each debater must help with fundraising. That means
    • Help on Saturday Dec. 6 at the Safeway Drive (talk to Chase for information).
    • Sell tickets for the Jan. 30 Trivia Night Fundraiser (4 tickets per debater).
    • Help get donations for the Loonie Auction on Jan. 30 (items or baked goods).
    • Help on Friday Jan. 30 at the Trivia Night Fundraiser (help out from 3:30 to 7:30 PM).
    • Sell raffle tickets (20 tickets per debater, each ticket costs $10). (The raffle is scheduled to start Jan. 5 and to end Mar. 11.)
    • If you miss an event, please communicate and you must help in an alternative way.
  3. Each debater must:
    • Sign up with a partner. Talk to Mr. Kertes if you need help.
    • Register here. Then turn in the forms (below) and pay the office.
    • Complete this form (#1). Turn it into the office when you pay.
    • Complete this form (#2). Turn into the office when you pay.
    • Pay the $50 non-refundable travel fee. This helps pay for the train, local transportation in Prince George, and hotel. (Most costs are paid through fundraising.)
    • Turn in your academic card on Dec. 1, Dec. 8, Dec. 15, and Jan. 5.
  4. When you turn in the forms, have registered, and pay the $50 you can get your debate team hoodie. (Note: If you are not going to Prince George, you can get your hoodie on Dec. 5th without signing up for the trip.) (The hoodie is for debate team members who joined in time for the order and who paid the $30 membership fee.)
